   What Workforce Diversity is?

The diversity of the workforce is a collection of employees at different levels. It further explores the cultural similarities and differences between people's cultural backgrounds, physical abilities and disabilities, race, religion, gender and sexual orientation. And no two people are alike. Using this method is very important for an organization (saxena, 2014).

 

     The Global Practice of Workforce Diversity.

Companies like Coca cola, Johnson & Johnson, MasterCard, Sodexo, Novartis follow the diverse workforce very enthusiastically. Since the employees of the above companies represent different levels and effective products are produced by different ideas in the manufacturing process. It has also been pointed out that due to the diversity in the administrative processes of the institutions, it is possible to maintain the institutions in a proper manner. These companies are among the top 10 companies that follow the diverse workforce as well (socialtalent, 2020).

 

MBM is one of the largest biscuit manufacturers in Sri Lanka. As we suggest, MBM can reap various benefits by practicing the diverse workforce. The following tables show those benefits.

 

A Variety of Perspectives

Since there are employees representing different social levels and the company can look at the existing problems from different angles and get effective answers to those problems (Wonolo, 2017).

Increased Creativity

Employing employees at different social levels in an organization activates different creative ideas. Those ideas can produce products that are highly productive (Wonolo, 2017).

Increased Productivity

An organization employs different employees and their ideas and levels of intelligence also vary. Because of those different thoughts, the productivity level of the production process will increases (Wonolo, 2017).

Boost Brand’s Reputation

Diversity connects you to the community around you. After all, when you employ a diverse workforce, then your workforce directly reflects the community where you are located – and possibly, the community that you serve. Beyond that, a national and international reputation of inclusion can go a long way toward building favor, both in your industry and as a recognized brand (Wonolo, 2017).

Global Impact

diverse workforce grants you a diverse and global perspective – a point of view rich with the incredible nuances of human experience and culture – and that means you will have a greater chance of communicating and expanding to more diverse markets, both at home and further afield. Diversity is the chance to successfully develop your business in a global market (Wonolo, 2017).

 

 

     Conclusion

From what we have shown above, it seems that the use of diverse workforce has a very high propensity globally and has shown that it is more productive. By linking that system to MBM, the company can be transformed into a highly profitable organization in the end.

  1. Diversified set of people in a team or in a organization with different views always positive thing to have. MBM is in a good move in that matter but its important if you could explain what and which kind of a variations and how the selection of various employees done by the company.

  4. Diversity of the workforce is vital for the continuous improvement (Kaizen) as you have mentioned. It supports to drive processes through different experience levels and ideas. It is also vital to focus on the retention of same since we need to identify motivational factors which drives the team.

According to Suxena (2014), diversified workforce is very important to each and every organization since it has a combination of different cultural backgrounds, race, religion, gender and physical abilities. The diversified workforce has a direct impact on the productivity and sustainability of an organization. Most of the companies rather than appeal Industry, when we compare the gender differences, female employees are less than male employees.

  6. According to Konrad et. al (2006) having a diverse workforce will enable increasing the sales by reaching out to different communities. Like you said an employee will obviously promote the product even irrelevant of him being in the marketing department.

  8. Diversity and inclusion in the workplace cause all employees to feel accepted and valued. When employees feel accepted and valued, they are also happier in their workplace and stay longer with a company. As a result, companies with greater diversity in the workplace have lower turnover rates. Workforce diversity is critical, as you have said, for quality improvement (Kaizen). It helps to guide processes across various levels of knowledge and concepts. Focusing on the retention of the same is also important as we need to define motivational variables that drive the team.
