E-Learning

What is E-Learning.

A learning system based on formal teaching but with the help of electronic resources is called e-learning. Previously, this method was not accepted wholeheartedly because it was assumed that it did not have the human elements needed to learn. E-learning can also be described as an active exchange of skills and knowledge from the network, and the learning curriculum can impart knowledge to a large number of recipients at once (economictimes, 2020).

The Benefits of E-Learning (Bleich, 2019).

·         Saves your company money.

·         Reduces learning time.

·         Better employee retention for most training topics.

·         Just-in-time accessibility for worldwide employees.

·         Provides employees with ongoing access to key resources.

·         Guarantees a risk-free environment for your employees.

·         Allows for global collaboration.

·         Fits your employee’s flexible lifestyles.

·         Scalable for any number of employees.

·         Provides your employees, and managers, with timely feedback.

·         Ensures training consistency and standardization.

·         Reduces your company’s environmental impact.

Disadvantages of E-Learning (Tamm, 2019).

·         Online student feedback is limited.

·         E-Learning can cause social Isolation.

·         E-Learning requires strong self-motivation and time management skills.

·         Lack of communicational skill development in online students.

·         Cheating prevention during online assessments is complicated.

·         Online instructors tend to focus on theory rather than practice.

·         E-Learning lacks face-to-face communication.

·         E-Learning is limited to certain disciplines.

·         Online learning is inaccessible to the computer illiterate population.

·         Lack of accreditation & quality assurance in online education.

The Global Context of E-Learning.

With the current social situation, online education is gradually evolving around the world in many different ways. By 2025, online teaching is becoming the mainstream of education. With the advent of new technologies and the global use of the Internet and the ever-growing digital economy and the demand for a trained workforce from time to time has also intensified. For the above reasons there is a lot of inclination in the world today for online education but still many developing countries do not follow this method as well (Aeron, et al., 2018).

Conclusion.

With the current epidemic in our country, the education system in the country has been severely disrupted. The government was tempted to introduce an online education system in the wake of the crisis, but with the current economic situation in the country, many people do not have the financial means to access the tools and internet facilities required for it. It is possible to purchase such tools, but many areas do not have the Internet access. In my opinion, the above teaching method is not successful for a developing country like ours.

Many international students who are now in different time zones have had to adjust their sleep cycle in order to attend class."

My opinion is, E learning provides the education and learning a flexible platform where the learners can access a variety of opportunities to broaden their knowledge while there are also many disadvantages of same.

Mean time, we should focus on the mental side effects where this can affect most of the students in the long run. We need the technology for the advancement and most of time we focus on technical difficulties of every field rather than providing solutions for health matters and cope up with the development.

The Asia is the fastest growing market for e-learning in the world, with a growth rate of 17.3% per year.

It important to remember that the positive role of e-learning in sustainable development is dependent on the availability of clear plans for e-learning and local and international conditions to guarantee credibility and quality, the continuing training for the human element related to new technologies, and periodic maintenance plans for technological infrastructure to cope with constant technological development (Massah, 2014).
